Your bathroom is one of the most functional areas of your home. From showering to getting ready for the day to, well, everything else you do in the bathroom, it gets used more than most rooms in your home. Make sure that it’s a space that you’re comfortable with. If you don’t love your current bathroom, give it an upgrade with a Niles bathroom remodeling with Family Restoration Inc.
If you’re not sure how you want to upgrade your bathroom, we have three suggestions to get the gears turning. Keep reading for some of our favorite bathroom upgrades.
Shift the arrangement
Understand that the layout of your bathroom isn’t set in stone. You can shift everything from your toilet to your sink to your shower. However, before you make any decisions about moving anything, make sure you know what kind of functionality and features you want in your new setup.
If you’re more concerned about having enough room to get ready each morning than showering, or vise versa, you’re going to want to think about where you put your sink. Many bathrooms have at least one long wall that makes an ideal location for a Jack and Jill vanity or creates a wide space for a new shower. Our experts can help you to evaluate how to make the most of the space that you have available.
Change the shape of your shower
Most traditional showers are a rectangle shape and are combined with a bathtub. You can customize your shower by swapping out your bathtub for a walk-in shower that’s either squared off to give you more floor space in your bathroom. You can also make it just as wide so you have plenty of room to move around. However, a walk-in shower of the same dimensions as your previous shower offers more space as the edges where the wall meets the floor are squared off.
Build a wet room
If you’ve ever showered in a tiny shower, you know how frustrating it is to not have enough room to move around and scrub. This problem can be remedied with the addition of a wet room in your bathroom. If you’re not familiar with a wet room, it’s a designated section of your bathroom that includes your shower and bathtub. This area is blocked off from the rest of your bathroom by glass, stone, or even left completely open. It can be arranged similar to a communal shower you would see at a gym where there’s a drain in the middle of the floor.
The idea behind a wet room is to create a large space to shower or take a bath then dry off without tracking water across your bathroom. You can also fill your bathtub as high as you would like without risking damaging your flooring as water spills over. A wet room creates a versatile space for you to shower and bathe.
